Oh, I do.
If we feel unlovable, what would make us loveable?
Would I be loveable....
If my house were clean and organized?
If I made my bed each morning as soon as I got up?
If I never had a battle with one of my children?
If I memorized 658 verses?
If I was a good wife and made sure there was a plan for dinner daily before 4PM?
If I didn't have those thoughts about that person?
If I hadn't responded to my husband that way?
Would I be loveable then? The IF's we could use are endless.
It's when I feel unlovable that I have to step back and get some fresh perspective. All of the IF's have something to do with me and what I can do to become someone who can be loved, but that's really not how it works and I'm so thankful that's true. If it were only possible to be loveable after accomplishing all the IF's, we would never get there.
Right now, I give you permission to stop trying.
Stop trying to be loveable.
Just BE LOVED.
He taught me to BE LOVED through my name and the meaning of it a long time ago. For as long as I can remember, I have known that the meaning of my name, Amy, is beloved. As I thought one day about the meaning of it, I saw it. BE - LOVED. Amy, just be loved. It was a gift.
And even though your name may not be Amy, I will gladly share the meaning with you and tell you it ok to just be loved. He loves you and wants you to receive it and just BE LOVED, without all the IF's.
....because of His great love with which He loved us,
Ephesians 2:4
What does it say He loved us with?
His Great Love
Just BE LOVED and accept that gift today, sweet friend.
And if you want to change your name to Amy to help you remember, I'm cool with that. ;-)
God, You have created magnificent loveable women that often feel unlovable, which is not news to You. In your great love would you help them see what I saw in Ephesians 2:4, You used your great love to love them and did not use anything else. You are love and the source of it. Seeking You is where we will find the love we so desperately need. Open our hearts and minds to see the hidden "ifs" that we think we must accomplish to win your heart. Your heart is already ours. And that is what makes me able to love you back.
XOXO,
Amy
