As If There Never Was a Night

I sneak out to the front porch, coffee and Bible in hand, take a seat in the rocking chair.  It's early, the air is still cool.  Even though I still wipe the sleep from my eyes, it is already busy on my quiet country lane.  Birds from every tribe and nation announce their agendas to the world.  Rose, the neighbor's four-legged friend, rushes up the hill toward home.  The flowers are in bloom, a pine cone crashes to the ground. The sun is up and clouds are dancing a slow song over the skies.  Horses graze with an occasional nicker, long tails in sway. Orange tiger lilies stand open at attention, ready to absorb the day's sunlight while the bees are traveling to and fro, busying themselves as bees do.

All of this happens as if there never was a night.

Yes, it's early.

And He is already working, my heart whispers.  Although all still sleep in my house, He is divinely working in this world He made.  He was working before any of these activities began.  He was already orchestrating this day, deep in the night.  The night that all of this activity has forgotten.

That's what I must trust  -  that He is working deep in my "nights".   Dark nights are long and lonely often stealing our minds to worry, wander, and discouragement.  But no matter how dark, no matter how long, regardless of how uncertain the night I face, there is a light that can burn,
She girds herself with strength, and makes her arms strong.  She senses that her gain is good;  Her lamp does not go out at night.
Proverbs 31:17-18
Yes, it's early, but night is coming again.  The nights we face do not have to be consumed with total darkness, a woman of God does not let her lamp go out at night, a light can burn in the deepest of nights.

Lamps extinguish without their source of light, leaving the darkness to taunt and haunt even the strongest.

The question presents itself....Where must I get the light to burn in the darkest of nights?
Thy word is a lamp unto my feet.
Psalms 119:105
We'll sit in this rocking chair for a couple of more posts looking at Proverbs 31:17-18.  Hope you enjoy, my friends.

As I'm sure you've seen, God and I have been working around here!  When you get a second, take a peek at the new page listed at the top "The Prayer Closet".   There's a little something there for you!
