Gifts Unaware

We bought each of our girls a gift.  It is something they would love vey much.  Something they have asked for on multiple occasions, and assumed we would never give them.  And yes, we bought one for each of them, several weeks ago, as a matter of fact.

Yet, they are completely unaware of it.

They sit unopened.  Untouched. Unnoticed.

Do they deserve these gifts?

No.

But we choose to give them anyway.

They walk by the gifts unaware.

They rush by these gifts in the midst of the norm and routine with blinded eyes.

Unnoticing.

Oblivious to the presence of something they have begged for.

If you then, being evil, know how to give good gifts to your children, how much more will your Father who is in heaven give what is good to those who ask Him!  --Matthew 7:11
I wonder how many gifts God has for me that I am unaware of?

I'm sure there are many gifts that I have rushed passed that He has ready for me to open, but in my habits and schedules I walk by with unnoticing perception.

With blinded eyes.

They are there.

Presents very present.

For me.

Things I have begged Him for.

Things I don't deserve.

Yet, He gives them anyway.

Just because He loves me.

I must slow down and begin to see.

Observe.

Notice.

No longer oblivious, but conscious -

of the gifts He has, in hands extended, holding them out for me to open.
Every good thing given and every perfect gift is from above, coming down from the Father of lights, with whom there is no variation or shifting shadow. --James 1:17
Father, I want to see.  I do.  There are so many things that cloud my view, things that get in my line of sight.  Help me to see.  See what you see.  How I must hurt You when I rush by your precious gifts unaware of your hand reaching out to give them to me.  Please forgive me for seeming so unappreciative of what You have specially selected just for me, your daughter.  Give me eyes that I may see.  Your eyes.  I need your eyes.

Love that verse in Matthew and what you said: "I'm sure there are many gifts that I have rushed passed that He has ready for me to open, but in my habits and schedules I walk by with unnoticing perception." it's so sad that we all do this. It actually made me year up just thinking about even the small moments (gifts from God) that I miss with my family because of the rush of life and distractions that get in the way.
Thanks so much for stopping by and reading/commenting on my "Through the Eyes of a Mentor" post. I enjoyed your post, too!!
