We're still in the rocking chair today camped out on the same portion of scripture. I love how small segments of scripture are exploding with meaning, and God has had much to say to my heart from this bite of His divinely inspired word. There are two rocking chairs on my porch, friend, would you like to join me to sit at the Father's feet? She senses that her gain is good; Her lamp does not go out at night. I've been thinking a lot about my "lamp" lately and how important it's affects are on my life in the day to day, even when those days are spiritual nights. In the last post we talked about not letting our lamps go out at night. And in the post before it we were reminded of a familiar scripture in Psalms that talks about a lamp. Here it is, just to refresh our memory: Thy word is a lamp to my feet and a light to my path. His word is a lamp and we learned that night is coming and not to let our lamps go out at night. Here's the next verse I would love to share with you. I just love this.... The spirit of man is the lamp of the Lord, searching all the innermost parts of his being. The "spirit" in the phrase "spirit of man" got my attention because one of the definitions I found for it was "vital breath". If something is vital, we need it for survival. What was this verse referring to that is vital? The lamp of the Lord. The vital breath of man is the lamp of the Lord..... His word is a lamp to my feet. His word is vital breath to my spirit. I MUST have it to survive in this dark world. Her lamp does not go out at night, and neither shall mine. Father, your word is a lamp to my feet and I pray for a desire for more of it to light the way and to search the innermost parts of my being, even when it's dark. Even in the darkest nights of my life I can learn about the parts of myself that you want to impact through the light of your word. I pray for my friends, that we would realize that your word is our vital breath. It can give just what we need to make it through another day.
