If Daddy said something, it happened.
As a second grader, when I was bullied by a high school boy on the bus, Dad told me he would take care of it, and he did. Protecting his little girl, there was never another problem.
If he warned you that a whipping was coming the next time he found the wood box empty, that's exactly what he meant, disciplining us when we needed and deserved it.
When the snow stacked deep and the wind blew fiercely cold, when he said he would get me to work, he did. Providing a way to the destination.
He didn't make empty promises. If he said it, that's what he meant.
He could fix things, he knew the name of every tool and the purpose for every piece of heavy equipment. He could open any jar that was too tight for my little hands. He could hunt anything he wanted. He knew everything there was to know about raising any kind of animal. He could build a monstrous set of bunk beds too.....I can hear my family laughing now. Friends, that's a story for a different day!
Whatever Daddy said, this girl believed. One. Hundred. Percent. He could say no wrong. (Mom, I'm sure you're either rolling your eyes or laughing about now....) If I heard someone speaking differently about something I had heard my daddy say, I just boiled on the inside because I knew they HAD to be wrong because it wasn't what my dad had said, and everyone should have known that he was right.
I didn't doubt his words.
A kept word builds trust. Trust that future spoken words will hold truth within them.
You may not have had a father who spoke words you could trust. Words to protect. Words to discipline. Words of provision. If you didn't, you still have a Father who does. Every word of His can be trusted.
How can I say that?
Because He cannot lie, the proof is in Titus 1:2. Knowing that He cannot lie brings me such peace when I read other verses. Especially verses like this:

For I am convinced that neither death, nor life, nor angels, nor principalities, nor things present, nor things to come, nor powers, nor height, nor depth, nor any other created thing shall be able to separate us from the love of God, which is in Christ Jesus our Lord.
Romans 8:38-39
emphasis mine ;-)
Why did I make such a big deal about my daddy keeping his word?
Because your Daddy keeps His.
And you need know that no matter what you are facing, whatever is to come -
It. Will. Not. Separate. You. From. Him.
Period.
He cannot lie.
And He loves you. I believe that One. Hundred. Percent. And so can you.
You are going to be okay.

Daddy who cannot lie,
My heart longs for the one who reads these words today that needs to just believe that your words mean exactly what they say. There is not a "but" or an "exception" excluding her. Use these words as a healing balm to her aching, longing, cautious heart. Holy Spirit, woo her to trust You just enough to see that You are a God of your word, that You are not like the ones who have let her down or betrayed her in the past. Give her courage to let down the wall and allow You to be her Protector, Loving Father of Discipline, Provider, Creator, Sustainer.
Abba.
Show her she can just let you be Abba. She just needs Daddy and to be able to lean on Him when she can't stand on her own.
XOXO,
Amy
